7 Interior Design Trends We Want More of in 2017

It's a new year! Therefore it's typically time to predict the trends and tell you what trends to get rid of. Instead we want to share with you the top 7 trends we want to see more of in 2017.

1. Colorful Cabinets

Colorful cabinets can act as a neutral in your space or that perfect pop of color.  Either way, its possible to do it in a timeless way by picking that perfect color and shade that is an external expression of your personality.

2. Layered Rugs

Interior Design is all about layering. I would say I am typically a less is more kind of gal but the further I get into my career as an Interior Designer, I am learning that is not always the case. As you see here these layered rugs add depth, dimension and character to a space that could have otherwise felt overly formal.

3. Geometric Tile

Geometric tile is fun and playful, we don't see this trend going anywhere for 2017. Two tips for using geometric tile. First choose it for a small space as this isn't a trend that we see lasting for years and years but if you put it in a small space it will be easier to replace when you're over it. Second choose a timeless design to buy you a few extra years of loving the tile.

4. Round Industrial Mirrors

This streamlined look can soften an industrial space with it's round shape and on the flip side it can add a casual feel to an otherwise formal space. We love the effortless and timeless feel these mirrors add to any space.

5. Velvet Pillows

Velvet pillows scream cozy luxury. They have made a come back and we don't want to see them go anywhere any time soon! Studio McGee has some of our favorite velvet pillows that add an instant pop of on trend style to your space.

6. Persian Rugs

I must admit, personally, I was hesitant to this trend when it first came out. Now, I am probably it's greatest advocate! Persian rugs are timeless and the amazing variety of rugs we now have, you can easily find that perfect rug for you, your space and your lifestyle.

7. Industrial Accents

Whether it's a simple sconce, chandelier or a full blown stair case, touches of industrial accents can make your space effortlessly current. This does not mean you need to add industrial accents around every corner, (the last thing you want is your home looking like a warehouse) but instead these touches can relax your space and keep it from feeling stuffy.

These are just a few of the trends we want to see more of in 2017. What are some trends you're wanting to see more of this year?
