Spring is on it's way and it's time to give your house a facelift! Spring may not have officially sprung but here in Sacramento it is feeling a lot like it, (at least for now). As trees bloom and temperatures rise we are feeling it's time to spruce things up and get our homes ready for the new season.

The change of a season is a great excuse to make adjustments in your home decor, to keep loving the house you've made a home for years to come.

These are five ways to give your house the facelift it's begging for!

1. Purge

I apologize for the lack of a better term, but tis the season to purge. Yes, it's time to do your typical "Spring Cleaning" but I challenge you to take it a step further. After months of being cooped up in your house you're ready for it to feel light and bright again. Just like when you go through your closet and get rid of items you haven't worn or loved in a while, do the same with your home decor. Comb through your decor and see is there anything that it's time to donate or sell.

2. Organize

To piggyback off of point number one, once you've purged it's time to organize what's left. Make sure every items has a home. If it doesn't, find or create a home for it. This may require a bit of an investment but I promise you, it's worth it. When items don't have a home, you'll find your self resenting them or even feeling a little tense about a particular space in your home. Organization is a non-negotiable when creating a home that is peaceful, life giving and inviting.

3. Re-arrange

Here in our house hold, no piece of furniture is safe, no arrangement is permanent. It's not odd for either my husband or I to come home and either home accessories have been moved or an entire room has been re-arranged. This is a huge secret in saving money and extending the life of your home decor. When a piece is moved, it breathes new life to a new space, you might even find your self falling in live with that piece all over again. Spring is the perfect time to play with what you have!

4. Swap Pillows

Surprise, surprise! You know us here at KMD, we love pillows! We truly believe they are the best and most affordable way to update a space. Pillows have a big impact on the look and feel of your space with minimal financial investment. Simply swapping out a pillow or two can tweak the style of your space and breathe new life to it.

5. Add Florals

Finally, after the cold and dreary Winter, nothing says new life is coming like fresh blooms throughout your house. They don't have to be an expensive professional arrangement but simple babies breath, tulips or even a few twigs of greenery in a vase will add life and effortless beauty to your space. One of our favorite affordable ways to do this is to grab the weekly floral specials at Trader Joe's. They always have fresh seasonal flowers at a screaming deal!
