What Shifted My Summer (And How You Can Still Join Me)

A few weeks into summer last year, I hit a wall.
The days were full—but my heart wasn’t. Between the mess, the noise, and the expectations I placed on myself, I found myself craving not just a better routine, but a deeper reset. Not just for me, but for my family. For our home.
And then I heard it—not audibly, but in that Spirit-gentle way:You don’t need to strive for structure. You need to return to rhythm. What followed wasn’t a Pinterest-perfect overhaul. It was a handful of small but powerful shifts—ones that helped me show up with more presence, peace, and purpose in my motherhood. And I want to share them with you.

Here are 5 Shifts That Changed the Way I Showed Up This Summer:
1. I started looking for fruit, not perfection.
Instead of asking, “Did I get it all done?” I started asking, “What fruit do I see today?”—peace, gentleness, connection. This softened my focus from output to presence.
2. I let go of the all-or-nothing mindset.
Even small, imperfect rhythms carry so much power. 10 minutes outside with my kids. 2 minutes of breathing prayer. It was never about the time—it was about the intention.
3. We made a family motto.
“The Owen's are contributors and protectors.” It gave us shared language and identity, even on the messy days. A small anchor with a big impact. We made it ours to protect connection and serve one another (still working on that one with the littles ;)
4. I gave my kids visual tools for emotions + responsibility.
They’re not just little people to manage—they’re humans learning how to see a need and meet it. We used charts, emotion wheels, and invitations to help them grow in awareness with connection.
5. I stopped striving and started flowing.
Peace didn’t come when I “got it all right.” It came when I allowed space to receive rest, listen for the Lord, and release the pressure to perform.
The Family Wellness Guide Was Born Out of This
As I began living into these shifts, I started writing. Praying. Designing simple tools for moms like me—overwhelmed, craving meaning, and ready to re-root their motherhood in peace.
The result? The Family Wellness Guide: Summer Edition—a Christ-centered, rhythm-filled resource for Christian moms to restore their heart, home, and health.
It’s available through July only as I prepare to retire this edition and create new, seasonal resources for fall and winter.
It’s Not Too Late to Begin Again
If this resonated with you—even a little—I want to invite you to grab the guide before it closes. It includes:
Emotional wellness tools for moms
Gentle rhythms for your home & body
Family culture builders (like our motto!)
Visual charts for kids
Hosting + connection tools rooted in grace
And if you’re ready to go deeper… I’m working on a Home+Life course experience coming in the near future—built from this very framework, designed to nourish your nervous system, strengthen your connection with God, yourself and others, and guide your family into peace-filled rhythms at home. More soon.
You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a path. Jesus is already walking it with you but you weren't meant to do it all on your own.
Here’s to a home filled with grace, not guilt. Presence, not pressure. Peace, not performance. You’re not behind—you’re being invited deeper.
With love and blessing,
Kristina
